Viral rhinitis, or the common cold, is an upper respiratory infection mainly caused by rhinoviruses and coronaviruses, affecting individuals of all ages, especially in colder months. Symptoms include nasal congestion, sneezing, sore throat, cough, headache, fatigue, and low-grade fever, with diagnosis primarily based on clinical evaluation. Management includes analgesics, decongestants, antihistamines, hydration, rest, and humidification, with potential complications like secondary bacterial infections and asthma exacerbation.
