Welcome
Discuss the rules of the
class.
Science
Science education is most commonly broken down into the following
three fields:
• Biology: the study of living things.
• chemistry: the study of substances from which things are made.
• physics: the study of how matter and energy interact.
• Earth and space : the study of the structure and changes in the earth
and the universe.

Scientific Method
The scientific method involves a
series of steps that are used to
investigate a natural
occurrence.
The scientific method is not just for scientists, anyone can use it in their everyday
lives to solve problems and answer questions.

Be prepared to present the project to an

Expect questions from the audience.
Some definitions
• Anomalous result is a piece of data that doesn’t fit the pattern in a
series of results.
• Hypothesis is a possible explanation that is based on evidence and
that can be tester further.
It is what you expect to find out or to see and try to get answers. And it
is based on previous scientific knowledge.
• Conclusion is a description of what an experiment shows with an
explanation. Conclusions can be expressed by using heading of tables
and graph.
(The more…. The more…. ,or the more …..the less)
Make sure you understand the
difference between
• Independent variable is the changeable value I changed .
• Dependent variable is affected by the independent.
• Constant or control variables are the non changeable variables to
have a fair comparison in the experiment.
Fair comparison is to make all conditions that affect the test the same.
And change only one variable (independent) that is under investigation.

Experiment should include
precautions to
• Reduce the damage to equipment and injury to people
Example
• Keep glass object away from the edge of the desk.
• Look perpendicular to make an accurate measurement.
