Introduction to Clause 19
• Clause 19 specifies the insurance
responsibilities of the Contractor and the
Employer to cover risks related to the Works,
personnel, and third parties.
19.1 General Requirements
• Each Party must maintain the required
insurances throughout the period stated in the
Contract, ensuring full coverage against
assigned risks.
19.2 Insurance for Works and
Contractor’s Equipment
• The Contractor must insure the Works, Plant,
Materials, and Equipment for loss or damage
from delivery to Site until Taking Over.
19.3 Insurance Against Injury to
Persons and Damage to Property
• The Contractor must maintain third-party
liability insurance covering death, injury, or
property damage caused by the Works.
19.4 Insurance for Contractor’s
Personnel
• The Contractor must insure their personnel for
work-related injuries, illness, and death in
accordance with the law and the Contract.
19.5 Evidence of Insurance
• Insurance certificates and policy documents
must be submitted before commencement
and upon renewal or modification. The
Engineer must be notified of changes.
19.6 Failure to Insure
• If the Contractor fails to obtain or maintain the
required insurance, the Employer may arrange
insurance and recover the costs from the
Contractor.
