🎯Aim Of Project :
The aim of this project is to develop an early flood detection system using an ESP32 microcontroller, various
sensors, and a web-based interface. The system will continuously monitor environmental conditions, including
rainfall, humidity, temperature, and water levels, to detect potential flooding risks. It will provide real-time alerts
via messages and calls using a GSM module and allow remote control of solenoid valves to manage water flow.
The goal is to enhance flood preparedness, minimize damage, and ensure a faster response to flood-related
emergencies.

Problem Statement Of Project:

Floods are one of the most destructive natural disasters, causing severe damage to infrastructure,
agriculture, and human life. Traditional flood warning systems often rely on centralized
monitoring, which may not provide timely alerts to individuals in vulnerable areas.

Literature survey:

Recent advancements in sensor technology, IOT, and wireless communication have enabled real-time flood monitoring and
early warning systems.
Sensor-based systems utilize rainfall sensors, ultrasonic water level sensors, and environmental sensors to detect flood
conditions.
Iot-based flood detection integrates microcontrollers (esp32, arduino), gsm modules, and cloud platforms to provide
remote monitoring and automated alerts .
Floods are among the most devastating natural disasters, causing loss of life, damage to property, and economic
setbacks. Early flood detection systems aim to provide real-time monitoring and alerts to mitigate the impact of floods.
Recent advancements in IOT, sensor technology, and communication systems have significantly improved flood
prediction and early warning mechanisms.
Introduction:
Flooding is one of the most destructive natural disasters, causing loss of life, dis-placement,
and severe economic impacts. Early flood detection systems are cru-cial tools in minimizing these effects by
providing advanced warnings, enabling communities to take preventive actions . these systems use A combination of
technologies such as weather monitoring, hydrological models, satellite data, and sensor networks to detect and
predict potential flood events . key components of an early flood detection system include rainfall sensors , river
stage monitors, and flood forecasting models. Rainfall monitoring provides data on precipitation patterns, while river
sensors measure water levels in real time . flood forecasting models analyze meteorological and hydrological data
topredict when and where flooding is most likely to occur..

Objectives:  Real-time monitoring: collect data from water level sensors, rainfall
sensors, and weather apis.
 Lood prediction: use machine learning or threshold-based analysis
to predict potential floods.
 Alert system: notify residents and authorities via sms, mobile apps,
orsirens.
Block diagram of system:
Description:

1. Power Source:
o He power supply system for the esp32-based early flood detection system is designed to provide stable
voltage and current to all components, ensuring reliable operation.
2. Control Unit (ESP32):
o The ESP32 is a series of low-cost and low-power system-on-chip (soc)microcontrollers developed by
espressif systems. ESP32 is created and developed by espressif systems, a chinese company.[8]
3. GSM :
o He GSM A7670C module is used in the esp32-based early flood detection system to provide cellular
connectivity for sending alerts and making emergency calls during flood events. It enables real-time
communication by sending SMS, making phone calls, and transmitting data to remote servers..
4. Water Level Detector (Ultrasonic Sensor)
o The ultrasonic sensor (HC-SR04) in the esp32-based early flood detection system is used to measure the
water level in real-time. It helps determine flood risk by continuously monitoring water height and sending
alerts when critical levels are reached.
5. Solenoid Valve:
o The solenoid valves in the esp32-based early flood detection system are used to control water flow automatically.
These valves can be opened or closed remotely via the web interface, helping to redirect or stop water flow

during a flood event.

6. Rain Detector:
o The rain detector in the esp32-based early flood detection system identifies rainfall and provides real-time alerts.
It plays a critical role in monitoring environmental conditions and triggering early flood warning
7. Environment Detector:
o The DHT11 sensor in the esp32-based early flood detection system measures temperature and humidity, helping
to assess environmental conditions and predict flood risks more effectively.
System Flow chart:
Description OF Flow Chart:

1. Initialization
• The system starts and initializes essential components, including:
• Sensors (DHT for temperature humidity, rain sensor, and ultrasonic sensorfor water level)
• Modules (GPS, communication module for SMS alerts, solenoid valve forwater control

2. Data collection
• The system reads data from:
• DHT sensor (temperature humidity).
• Rain sensor (measures rainfall intensity)
• Ultrasonic sensor (detects water level changes).

3. Flood condition check

• The sensor data is compared against predefined threshold values to deter-mine if a flood condition exists
4. Decision process (flood warning check)

• If flood conditions are met :

 Activate buzzer to provide an audible warning.
 Open solenoid valve to release or redirect water.
 Send sms alert to notify relevant authorities or individuals .

• If no flood risk:
 Deactivate buzzer to stop warnings.
 Close solenoid valve to prevent unnecessary water flow .

5. System loop delay

• The system introduces a 1-second delay before repeating the process.

• This ensures smooth operation and prevents excessive rapid changes.

6. Continuous monitoring

• The process repeats indefinitely, ensuring real-time monitoring and alerting when flood conditions arise.
