A communication point can be either a place or a
person (family contact), preferably a relative who lives in a
place not affected by the disasters. Affected members of
the family can go to that place or send a message to the
contact person.
It can also be a place in community such as the

If local authorities should require residents of a
community to evacuate, members of the family must
proceed to evacuate, members of the family must

contact number of the police, hospitals, fire

Step 4. Discuss and Practice the
Plan
Discuss the family preparedness plan with all the
members of the family. Each member must know his or
her responsibility. If time still permits, the plan must be
practiced, and the list must be updated and re-checked
if necessary.
