The Circulatory System
A Simple Presentation on the Human
Circulatory System
Introduction
• The circulatory system is the body’s
transportation network.
• It moves blood, oxygen, and nutrients to all
parts of the body.
• It also carries waste away from cells.
Main Parts of the Circulatory
System
• 1. Heart: Pumps blood throughout the body.
• 2. Blood Vessels: Tubes that carry blood.
• 3. Blood: Carries oxygen, nutrients, and waste.
The Heart
• The heart is the central organ of the
circulatory system.
• It pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body and
oxygen-poor blood to the lungs.
Types of Blood Vessels
• 1. Arteries: Carry oxygen-rich blood away from
the heart.
• 2. Veins: Carry oxygen-poor blood back to the
heart.
• 3. Capillaries: Tiny vessels where exchange of
oxygen and nutrients happens.
The Blood
• Blood is the fluid that circulates in the body.
• It carries oxygen from the lungs and nutrients
to the cells.
• It also carries waste products to be removed
from the body.
Summary
• The circulatory system is vital for transporting
oxygen, nutrients, and waste.
• It includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood.
• Together, they keep the body alive and
healthy.
Blood Circulation Process
• 1. The heart pumps oxygen-poor blood to the
lungs.
• 2. In the lungs, blood gets oxygen and releases
carbon dioxide.
• 3. The oxygen-rich blood returns to the heart.
• 4. The heart then pumps this oxygenated
blood to the rest of the body.
Types of Circulation
• 1. Systemic Circulation: Sends oxygenated
blood from the heart to the body.
• 2. Pulmonary Circulation: Sends oxygen-poor
blood from the heart to the lungs to get
oxygen.
Functions of the Circulatory System
• 1. Provides oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
• 2. Removes waste products like carbon
dioxide.
• 3. Helps regulate body temperature.
• 4. Transports hormones that help control body
processes.
Circulatory System Disorders
• 1. Hypertension: High blood pressure can
damage blood vessels.
• 2. Atherosclerosis: Plaque buildup in arteries
can restrict blood flow.
• 3. Heart Attack: When blood flow to part of
the heart is blocked.
• 4. Stroke: When blood flow to part of the
brain is cut off.
Keeping the Circulatory System
Healthy
• 1. Eat a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables,
and whole grains.
• 2. Exercise regularly to keep the heart and
blood vessels strong.
• 3. Avoid smoking and limit alcohol.
• 4. Manage stress and get regular medical
checkups.
