The two maps show the differences between the village of Stokeford in
1930 and 2010. Generally speaking, the majority of features have been
changed to urbanize the area.
Looking at the village in 193, one can see that it was for the most part
agricultural with half of the place was farmland. In addition, the primary
school was located near the east of the village, surrounding a small
number of houses along the road that led to the south of the bridge. The
area also consisted of a handful of shops and a post office. In the east of
Stokeford, there was a large garden surrounding a considerable house.
After 80 years, Stokeford had experienced extensive growth. The rows
of houses lining the main streets replaced both farmland to the north and
east. While the post office remained, the shops were demolished to make
space for new homes. The rise of residential housing was in the area
surrounding the primary school. Additionally, the garden was shortened

The two given maps in 1930 and 2010 describe innovation of a village
named Stokeford. One can infer is significant changes in the structure and
land use of this area are due to residential expansion.
To begin with, on basic infrastructure, the road was reshaped: From the
original simple shape, the middle part of the road is widened by a square
fold. There are also a few short extensions to the sides of the road. The entire
farmland was gone, instead, many house sprung up along the road.
Follwing that, the public service areas had a big innovation. On the left of
the main road, while the post office remained intact, the shops disappeared.
The right side of the main road had even more changes. The elementary
school was expanded by two buildings. This is probably because new
households had more children of primary school age, so the demand for
school facilities increased. Meanwhile, the gardens area was narrowed down.
In the gardens grounds, three large buildings was replaced by five retirement
homes.
In summary, the maps show a general trend of urbanization in rural areas
over time.
