INTERTXT
• INTER means “in between”
• The definition of intertextuality was created by the French
semiotician Julia Kristeva in the 1960’s. she created the term from
the latin word intertexto which means “ to intermingle while
weaving”
• Refers to the shaping of the text meaning by referencing or calling
to mind other text as aims to add meaning to the current text.
• technically defined as a process of text development that merges
two more processes such as; imitation and creation.
Intertextuality using 4 specific methods
• Retelling – is the restatement of a story or re-expression of a
narrative or story.
• Parody – uses many of the same elements of a text but does it
in new and funny way.
• Allusion – pertains to a idea or passage found in another text
without explicitly mentioning it.
• Pastiche – is a text developed in a way that it copies the style
or other properties of another text without making fun.
HYPERTEXT

• Hypertext is a non-linear way to present information and is usually
accomplished using "links".
• Creating links between information.
• Hypertext is text displayed on a computer display or other electronic
devices with references to other text that the reader can immediately
access.
HYPERTEXT
• The term hypertext was coined b Ted Nelson in 1963
• Hypertext is the foundation of World Wide Web enabling users to click
on link to obtain more information on a subsequent page on the same
site or from website anywhere in the world.
• Links are not just limited to text or documents but include pictures,
video materials animated, and audio illustrations. This is also called
hypermedia.
