BULLYING
Behavior that is intentional, hurtful, and
repeated by one or more persons.
The behavior is repeated, has the potential
to be repeated, over time.
BULLYING INCLUDES
Actions such as making threats,
spreading rumors,attacking someone
physically and verbally,and excluding
someone from a group on purpose.
The word ''BULLY" use to
mean the total opposite of
what it means now.
Five hundred years ago it
meant friend or family
member.
TWO TYPES OF BULLYING

BULLYING
• INDIRECT BULLYING
DIRECT BULLYING
Physical-hitting,
kicking,pushing,stealing,hiding or
ruining someone's things
Verbal-Name calling, teasing,
insulting, Threats
INDIRECT BULLYING
When stories or rumors about a
person are spread around and
exculding others from the group.
CYBER BULLYING
Types of bullying that happens online or
through text messages or E-mail.
COVERT
BULLYING
It is designed to harm someone's social
reputation and/or cause humiliation.
Characteristics of bully
• Show little concern for the feelings of
others.
• Often physically strong.
• Have troubles in following rules.
• May or may not be popular with other
children around thier same age.
• Have more positive attitude towards
violence than peers.
• Have quick tempers,and are easily
frustrated.
• Be good at talking themselves out of
situation.
Victim Characteristics
There are two types of victims
• Passive victim
• Provocative victim
PASSIVE VICTIM
• Be quiet cautious and sensitive
• Be insecure, have little confidence
• Be physically weaker(Boys)
• Be afraid of getting hurt
PROVOCATIVE VICTIM
• Be hyperactive, restless, Have
diffuculty in concentrating
• Hot tempered
• Attempt to fight back when they feel
insulted or attacked
EFFECTS OF BULLYING
• Unwilling to go to school
• Unwilling to discuss his/her school
life
• School work and academic results
are worse than before
• Coming home with wounds and
torn clothes
• Nightmares often locks him/herself
in thebedroom for a long time
• Become nervous when another
child comes near
• Becoming increasingly bad
tempered
KIDS WHO SEE BULLYING
• They may not know what to do
• They may feel depressed or
worried
• Maybe absent from school because
they don't feel safe
• They may join or stay silent so they
won't get bullied
KIDS WHO ARE BULLIED CAN FEEL LIKE
• Different
• Unpopular
• Alone
• Sad
• Lonely, nervous or sick
WHY DO OTHERS LET IT HAPPEN?
• The bully is someone others look
up to and want to hang out with
• They want side with the"bully"
because it makes them feel strong
• They're entertained by bully
• They don't think speaking up will
help
• They're afraid that if they say
something, the bully will turn on
them
BULLYING IS A BIG DEAL
• Know what kind of bully you are
dealing with
• Report all bullying to an authority
figure
• Help others
• Learn self defence
• Feel good about you
• Stand tall and be brave
• Get a buddy and be a buddy
