ABSTRACT:

The design and development of a smart monitoring and controlling system for
household or industrial electrical appliances in real time has been presented in
this project. The system principally monitors electrical parameters of indusial
appliances such as current and subsequently calculates the units of power
consumed. Which enables the identifying of failure and malfunctioned
appliances to manage the power consumption and short circuit protection. The
novelty of this system is the implementation of the controlling mechanism of
appliances in different ways like by server or by user. The user can control the
appliances through mobile applications with the help of IoT , or using server
data. With the proposed system we can also get the exact status of device
switching. The developed system is a low-cost and flexible in operation and
thus can save electricity expense of the consumers. The prototype has been
extensively tested and experimental results are very encouraging.
INTRODUCTION
The proposed system “SMART PLUG “ is Designed and developed for smart
and efficient power management , smart device switching, smart electricity billing and
smart protection over electrical short circuits.

• The existing systems are failure in measurement of indusial power

measurement, which enables smart power management and overload protections
• the existing billing systems are consists manual billing or GSM based billing
systems, which are more costly and less accurate.
• And the existing system has SMS based device switching, which has slower
and less accurate

CONCLUSION

 A smart plug system has been designed and developed towards the
implementation of an intelligent building. The developed system effectively
monitors and controls the electrical appliance usages at an elderly home.
Thus, the real-time monitoring of the electrical appliances can be viewed
through a website. The system can be extended for monitoring the whole
intelligent building. We aim to determine the areas of daily peak hours of
electricity usage levels and come with a solution by which we can lower the
consumption, protection and enhance better utilization of already limited
resources during peak hours.
FUTURE SCOPE
• In future, the system will be integrated with
co-systems like smart home inhabitant
behavior recognitions systems to determine the
wellness of the inhabitant in terms of energy
consumption, water consumption etc.
