Joshua
Introduction:
Moses, Joshua’s mentor was gone
but Joshua was not alone! God said
to him, “No man shall be able to
stand before you all the days of your
life; as I was with Moses, so I will be
with you. I will not leave you nor
forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)
A Portrait of Joshua:
Joshua was from the prominent tribe of
Ephraim. His name was originally
Hoshea (salvation), but Moses changed
it to Joshua meaning. Jehovah salvation.
He was a servant of Moses and of God.
His special duty under Moses was that
of military commander of the army of
Israel.
A Portrait of Joshua:
He was one of the twelve spies. Who
entered Canaan to see the land and its
inhabitants. He had been sovereignly
chosen by God to lead Israel and was a
Spirit-filled leader. He was an obedient
leader. Though he was a great man, he
was not perfect. One failure is recorded in
Numbers 11:26-30 where he was jealous
A Portrait of Joshua:
He prayed a pathetic prayer
which God rebuked him. He let
down his guard and made unwise
decision. And there are more
failures of Joshua we can find in
the Bible.
