What is Simple Distillation?
A simple distillation definition or distillation
meaning is a process of purifying a liquid
compound by heating it into a vapor that is
then condensed back into a liquid.
 Byheating a liquid to the temperature at
which it turns into a vapor, it is separated
from any possible impurities that are
dissolved within it.
Simple Distillation Setup
Apparatus
1. Heat source
2. distillation flask
3. Thermometer
4. Condenser
- Cooling water in
- Cooling water out
5. Distillate/receiving
flask
Procedure
1. Fill the distilling flask about one-half full with water and
other substances to distillation.

2. Attach rubber tubing to a faucet and connect the tubing


to the bottom arm of the condenser. Attach a second piece
of rubber tubing to the upper arm of the condenser and
place the end of the tubing into the sink.
