Course Overview
This course focuses on the importance of participants taking responsibility, changing their behind-the-wheel behaviors and
attitudes, and choosing to drive safely, responsibly, respectfully and lawfully.
This course addresses behavior, judgment and decision-making skills needed to avoid collisions and future violations.
It’s All About Choices
Most importantly, this course also focuses on the choices you make each time you take to the road-choices that affect you,
your family, your friends and the other people on the roads.
You will gain skills that may one day save your life or the lives of others.

Course Goals
With the idea of "choices" in mind, the goals for this course are for you to:
• Develop more comprehensive knowledge and skills in safe and responsible vehicle
operation.
• Identify risky driving behaviors.
• Identify behaviors that can be controlled and factors beyond a driver's control.
• Recognize potential hazards when driving and make appropriate driving choices to avoid
those hazards.
• Identify risky driving behaviors that, statistically, lead to the most collisions and fatalities
on U.S. roads.
• Choose safe, responsible and respectful driving behaviors based on different driving
situations and conditions.

Objective
In this session, you will learn how to:
• Recognize that driver safety affects everyone
• Recognize that every behavior is a choice
• Define risky driving behaviors
• Identify the Six Deadly Choices that lead to the majority of crashes
• Identify what's in your control when you drive
• Explain how to drive defensively in conditions beyond your control
