Introduction
• Good afternoon. Our topic today is about wireless security.
• It means wireless network protection.
• Radio is an example of wireless devices.
• There are some effective solutions to the wireless network
security challenges and issues.
Wireless Network Architecture
• The wireless network is the combination of several networks
that let one computer access another with no means of wired
connection physically.
Wireless Network Security Challenges
• Data should be secured and protected, so security is the
primary concern.
• If data is hacked, the hacker can not read it.
• Jamming and scrambling are public security issues.
• The sudden blockage.
• Hackers try to modify or delete data.
Wireless Protocols and Standards
• These protocols govern how these devices access the internet and
other sources.
• For example, cellular phones provide connectivity for portable and
mobile applications, both business and personal.
• Another example, wireless routers enable users to connect to the
internet in the office or at home by employing Wi-Fi.
Categorization of Security Issues
• There are different risks included in the categorization of security issues such as:
• Potential loss of information.
• Identifying the different shapes of information that the organization store or
retrieve.
• The companies classify their security issues by their functional practices.
• This includes misinformation, theft of data and web-based hacking.
Types of Cellular Networks
• Cellular networks were supported by global system for mobile
communications( GSM) and code- division multiple access
(CDMA).
• 2G. It is the 1st main wave of cellular technology adoption.
• 3G. It is 3rd generation network that appeared in 2001.
• 4G / LTE. The 4th generation wireless and LTE started in 2009.
• 5G. The 5th generation was introduced in 2019.
Security Solutions for Wireless Networks
Encryption
• Security Wireless Access Point
• Minimizing the Risk :Removal of offending devices may decrease the risk of DOS attacks.
• Techniques of Signal Hiding Attacks
• Artificial Neural
• Fuzzy Logic
• Genetic Algorithm: It is an effective tool to deal with multifaceted wireless network
optimization requirements.
Conclusion
In this study, we investigated and reviewed security
issues and threats that are used for hacking the data of the
client. The aim of this study is review solutions to these
issues for a better security mechanism for WLAN.
