holistic approach
to healing

Introduction
• Homeopathy = “Homeo”meaning similar, and “Pathos”
meaning disease.
• System of alternative medicine based on the concept of
treating "like with like”
• Founded by Samuel Hahnemann in the late 18th century
in Germany
• Individualized treatments, and emphasis on the body's
innate healing abilities
• Consider the individual as a whole – taking into account
not only the physical symptoms but also the mental,
Principles
1. Law of Similar: Like cures like" - a substance that causes
symptoms in a healthy person can cure similar symptoms
in a sick person
2. Law of Minimum Dose: Lower the dose of medication,
higher is its effectiveness. So, remedies are highly
diluted to minimize toxicity and side effects while
enhancing efficacy
3. Individualization: Treatment is tailored to the unique
symptoms and characteristics of each person
Diagnosis
• Collection of detailed case history, their medical history,& current
symptoms
• Major symptoms location, sensitivity, and modality investigation
• Recording presence/absence of symptoms as per changed weather,
season, time of days
• Recording patients mood and behavior, likes and dislikes,
responses to stress conditions, reactions to foods
• Building “Symptoms picture” and matching it with “ Drug picture”
Treatment
• Single medicine corresponding to patients general
symptoms
• Two patients with identical diagnosis may receive
different treatments
• Some consists of 2 or more doses while some requires
regular daily dose
• Time-to-time follow up( Reviewing progress)
• Suitable alternation in medicine and dilution
• In case of recurrence, treatment is replaced with higher
Homeopathic medicine preparation
1. Serial dilution: Reducing the toxicity of original crude
drug in a sequence, increasing the potentisation, to get a
single molecule
2. Succussion: Preparation of medicine by the use of liquid
vehicle like water or alcohol or water, by shaking in
definite method
3. Trituration: Preparation of medicine by the use of solid
vehicle like sugar of milk, by grinding in definite order
** Combination of this three steps together is known as
potentisation process
Why use Homeopathy?
• Gentle and effective system of medicine, which treats patients as
a whole not just the disease without any side-effects
• Friendly to children, young and old and Most of the cases avoid
surgery
• Do not have expiry dates, and are founded on the pillars of truth
• Administered in minute doses that act gently and stimulate the
body’s self healing response, correcting the root cause of illness.
• Works in harmony with the immune system, and optimize the
body’s natural defense against microbes
Controversies?
• Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted to the point where they may
not contain any active ingredients, so therapeutic effects may be
attributed to the placebo effect rather than the remedies themselves
• Inconclusive results or failed to demonstrate significant benefits
beyond a placebo effect leading to skepticism
• Highly diluted remedies are doubted to have any physiological effect,
let alone therapeutic benefits
• Homeopathy as a valid medical treatment may undermine public trust
in evidence-based medicine and lead individuals to forgo proven
treatments in favor of unproven remedies
Crude drugs/minerals used in
homeopathy
• Arsenicum album • Ferrum phosphoricum
• Calcarea • Kali carbonicum
carbonica • Mercurius solubilis
• Natrum • Sulphur
muriaticum
• Silicea
• Graphites
• Calcarea
phosphorica
