Conjunctions
Aim: Students use conjunctions to
connect ideas in context.
What are conjunctions?
There are 2 types of conjuctions (connectors); coordinating and
subordinating conjuctions.
These are words that connect other words, phrases or clauses
together.
Conjunctions allow you to make complex sentences and avoid
chopping in multiple short sentences.
I like soccer.
I like volleyball.
I like Badminton.
I like soccer, badminton and volleyball.
Coordinating Conjunctions
They are words that connect ideas, phrases, verbs, nouns
and they give equal importance to each clause.
and
The conjunction ‘and’ is used in a sentence to join or link words,
phrases or clauses together. It is a co-ordinating conjunction that
can make a compound sentence.

They are words that connect a dependent clause to an
independent clause. If the dependent clause is removed
the sentence still makes sence.
