The project has the following objectives:
1) Develop the Electronic Item Analysis in Microsoft Excel,
incorporating key information required for conducting item
analysis;
2) Review the developed Electronic Item Analysis, considering the
identified inputs, outputs, and acceptance criteria;
3) Conduct a testing procedure to ensure the quality and accuracy
of the developed software. This includes assessing its
consistency, effectiveness, and ability to generate accurate
results by utilizing the results of Electronic Item Analysis from
two training courses;
4) Obtain approval for the Electronic Item Analysis from the Head
of PHILCAMSAT by submitting the necessary documentation;
and
5) Implement the Electronic Item Analysis software program in
accordance with the revised Quality Manual (QM), Research
and Development Quality Procedure 109.
The project’s objective is to increase the success rate of Filipino
KLNG cadets in promotion to junior officers through developing a
cadetship program as envisioned in the K-Line LNG Shipping “K”ARE
Roadmap.
More specifically, the project will:
1) Conduct a Gap Analysis to identify the weakness of the current
pool of seafarers and be a basis for the foundation courses and
training.
2) Develop a Structured Cadet Training Program which has a
controlled and personalized approach ensuring that cadets
receive equal opportunities for training and assessment in a
controlled and realistic working environment.
3) Create foundation courses that will ensure that the cadet arrives
at the vessel with key competencies stated on the Company
Safety Management System, enabling a quicker transition to life
at sea.
4) Provide a strategic roadmap for the Company to follow to
improve the delivery and quality of the Cadet Training Program.

Project Benefits
The results of this capstone project will benefit the
following:
Research and Development Department (R&D)
This project will assist the team in reducing potential
errors in the item analysis results, thereby alleviating the burden
of manual checks.
Assessors
Assessors will benefit from this project by obtaining
accurate results, which will enhance the quality of the questions
and assessments.
Trainee
The project will help trainees by providing them with
effective test items and improving the learning outcome of each
test question.
Project Benefits
The benefits of the outcome of this capstone project are
the following:
“K” Line LNG Shipping (UK) LTD. (Company)
A pool of competent seafarers for the company. The
Structured Cadet Training Program is one the key solution in the
declining success rate of Filipino KLNG Cadets. These cadets will
be officers on the company’s vessel, thus creating a wide pool of
competent seafarers.
Filipino KLNG Cadets
Increased success rate of Filipino KLNG Cadets. Prior
embarking for their cadetship, the Cadets are equipped with key
competencies stated on the Company Safety Management
System, enabling a quicker transition to life at sea. Providing a
higher chance of promotions for cadets to become an officer.
