53 years old woman “A” who is diagnosed with 3rd stage of
breast cancer in 2015. Starting from the age of 50, she
underwent thorough medical checkups at NCC every year.
In January 2015, after undergoing a cancer screening, the
doctor said everything was fine and walked out. But in
October, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer by
rescreening at a private clinic.
She has underwent a Mastectomy, 6 times with 21 days
interval chemotherapy, and 25 times of radiotherapy in
that order for a whole year.
She spent total 50 million (MNT) for the treatment.
Her underlying cause was she had a rare case of positive
HER-2 resulted by genetics.
Case study Her thoughts and
statements
“It seems you cannot entirely trust just
one examination or one doctor’s
consultation.”
-After cancer diagnosis

"People who are treated in public hospitals learn about their bodies
from each other. For example, when someone undergoes
chemotherapy, they begin to lose white blood cells. In order to
prevent the loss of white blood cells, they learn not only about
medications but also what they should eat by listening to each
other." -During treatment

"I used to think cancer only occurred in people over

50 years old, but when I saw the people being
treated with me, there were many young women."

organizations to provide ongoing support and accurate
information for women.
Method
**Target Group:** University students in Mongolia, primarily those attending
national universities.
**Goal:** Educate students and increase awareness to promote early
diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer.

**Action Plan:**

annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day at MNUMS on October 9th. Arrange a
meeting with the Mongolian Society of Breast Imaging through our
connections with Mars Club.

2. **Engage Student Unions:** Get in touch with the Student Union at

MNUMS to help connect us with other university student unions, such as
UFE, NUM, and MUST, to organize an event at their campuses.
Method

3. **Event Organization:** Plan and manage the event as a team

leader, representing our group in discussions with other unions and
organizations on equal footing.

Expected results
Anticipated quantitative
outcomes:
After the educational campaign, we expect at least 20%
decrease in late stage diagnosis in high risk group, and
decreasing the financial burden for the cancerous patient
and their family. Ultimately, lowering the mortality rate by
at least 15%.

Qualititative outcomes:
By increasing the awareness in young people, we could
decrease the future cases of breast cancer. Additionally, it
could inspire them to courage and convince their mother
to check for any symptoms or take medical screening. We
also hope that this educational program encourage people
to find solution to resolve other pollution.
