Integral method analysis
1 Assume a suitable rate equation. Let us say,

where is an explicit function.

2 For constant volume systems, since

3 Note that t is an independent variable and a dependent variable.

Separate the variables and integrate.
4 Identify the initial and final values of the variables
involved to get lower and upper limits.

If is an explicit function, get such that,

5. Get an equation of the form,

6. Prepare a plot of vs. t using experimental data.

If you get a straight line passing through the origin, then the rate
equation you are searching for is the one you assumed in step 1.
7. If you do not get a straight line passing through the origin, then go back to
step 1 and propose another rate equation and repeat until the desired
straight line is got. It may not be possible to simplify the expression that
you get in steps 4 and 5 to a form or . In such cases, the integral method
of analysis fails.
