Similes and metaphors enhance descriptive writing by creating vivid imagery and allowing readers to visualize concepts in a more relatable way. A simile compares two different things using 'like' or 'as,' such as 'The sun is like a ball, yellow and shining.' A metaphor makes a direct comparison by stating something is something else, as in 'Her eyes were diamonds.' These techniques help paint a more vivid picture and bring a narrative to life by comparing something unfamiliar with something known .
