ASHOKA’S WHEEL OF LIFE
This exercise is aimed at reflecting on various
aspects of your life and how fulfilled you are in each
area. It will give you an opportunity to seek balance
as well as make strides in areas you feel stuck. Being
a changemaker is a mindset. Changemaking
expands well beyond social change work, to all
aspects of your life. You can apply changemaking
qualities to your relationships, sports, day to day
interactions with others in your community, etc. Part
of wellbeing is feeling powerful enough to create
change around any problem you encounter.
FEELING OVERWHELMED
As a changemaker you have an incredible
amount of work. You have a final exam, you
need to fundraise for your venture, there are
emails piling up in your inbox, your stomach is
not feeling well, your team members need
clarity about what you want them to do, and
you need to attend your little brother’s
kindergarten performance. The world is on your
shoulders and there is not enough time to do it
all.
Here are a few things that
have worked for us and could
help you:
• Take time out of whatever you
are doing and change your
activity.
• Breathe
• Call a friend or someone you
love.
• Laugh
• Write
• Its okay to say no
IMPOSTER SYNDROME
Imposter Syndrome happens
when you feel that you are
being fraudulent, or you are
acting as an imposter, but
you really aren’t. It feels as if
you are wearing a mask
wherever you go. This may
happen when people around
you think that you are an
“expert” on something, that
you are the BEST at a skill or
that you have ALL the
answers.
Here are a few things that
have worked for us and could
help you:
• It’s okay to accept that you don’t
hold all the answers.
• Tell what you are really thinking.
• Make a list and keep track of
things that you have done well.
• It’s ok to be vulnerable.
• Never, compare yourself to others.
