INTRODUCTION TO SDGs
The SDGs are a collection of 17
interlinked goals designed to guide
reflection and action on the most
pressing challenges and opportunities
facing humanity and the natural world.
END POVERTY
Eradicating extreme poverty for all people
everywhere by 2030 is a pivotal goal of
the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development. Between 2015 and 2018,
global poverty continued its historical
decline, with the poverty rate falling from
10.1 per cent in 2015 to 8.6 per cent in
2018.
ZERO HUNGER
Aim to end all forms of hunger and
malnutrition by 2030, making sure all
people – especially children and the
more vulnerable – have access to
sufficient and nutritious food all year
round.
GOOD HEALTH AND
WEALTH BEING
This goal addresses all major health
priorities: reproductive, maternal,
newborn, child and adolescent health;
communicable and non-communicable
diseases; universal health coverage; and
access for all to safe, effective, quality
and affordable medicines and vaccines
QUALITY EDUCATION
Ensure inclusive and equitable
quality education and promote
lifelong learning opportunities for
all
GENDER EQUALITY
It aims to achieve gender equality by
ending all forms of discrimination,
violence and any harmful practices
against women and girls in the public
and private spheres
CLEAN WATER AND
SANITATION
The goal calls for ensuring universal access
to safe and affordable drinking water,
sanitation and hygiene, and ending open
defecation. It also aims to improve water
quality and water-use efficiency and to
encourage sustainable abstractions and
supply of freshwater
AFFORDABLE AND
CLEAN ENERGY
Ensuring universal access to affordable
electricity by 2030 means investing in clean
energy sources such as solar, wind and
thermal. Adopting cost-effective standards
for a wider range of technologies could also
reduce the global electricity consumption by
buildings and industry by 14 percent.
DECENT WORK AND
ECONOMIC GROWTH
It is to provide inclusive and sustainable
economic growth, full and productive
employment and decent work for all.
Economic growth should be a positive
force for the whole planet. This is why we
must make sure that financial progress
creates decent and fulfilling jobs while not
harming the environment.
INDUSTRY,
INNOVATION AND
INFRASTRUCTURE
Industrialization drives economic growth,
creates job opportunities and thereby
reduces income poverty. Innovation
advances the technological capabilities of
industrial sectors and prompts the
development of new skills
REDUCE
INEQUALITIES
This goal aims at reducing
inequality within and among
countries. This goal calls for
reducing inequalities in income as
well as those based on age, sex,
disability, race, ethnicity, origin,
religion or economic or other
status within a country.
SUSTAINABLE CITIES
AND COMMUNITIES
To ensure access to safe and affordable
housing, and upgrading slum settlements, It
involves investment in public transport,
creating green public spaces, and improving
urban planning and management in a way that
is both participatory and inclusive.
RESPONSIBLE
CONSUMPTION AND
PRODUCTION
This goal aims promoting resource and
energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure,
and providing access to basic services, green
and decent jobs and a better quality of life for
all.
CLIMATE ACTION
Stepped-up efforts to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions and strengthen resilience and
adaptive capacity to climate-induced impacts,
including: climate-related hazards in all
countries; integrating climate change
measures into national policies, strategies and
planning
LIFE BELOW WATER
Oceans are home to seahorses, dolphins,
whales, corals, and many other living
creatures. Oceans are our planet's life support
as they provide water, food and help regulate
the weather. Oceans also provide jobs for
more than 3 billion people who depend on
marine biodiversity for their livelihood.
LIFE ON LAND
It is must for every life on the earth to
Protect, restore and promote sustainable use
of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage
forests, combat desertification, and halt and
reverse land degradation and halt
biodiversity loss.
PEACE AND JUSTICE
STRONG INSTITUTIONS
To achieve the Sustainable Development
Goals. it is important that governments, civil
society and communities work together to
implement lasting solutions to reduce
violence, deliver justice, combat corruption
and ensure inclusive participation at all
times.
PARTNERSHIPS FOR
THE GOALS
It calls for a global partnership for
sustainable development. The goal
highlights the importance of global
macroeconomic stability and the
need to mobilize financial resources
for developing countries from
international sources, as well as
through strengthened domestic
capacities for revenue collection.
