SONG

DEFINITION OF SONG

Song is a short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung
The social function of the song is to express feelings
(happy,sad,angry, disappointed, etc) and to influence listeners
Song structure
1. Intro
it is the music beginning of the song. It is aimed to
build up the feeling or suspense

2. verse
verse is song lines that describe the concept and
theme of the song. It tells the opening story. Verse
leads the listeners to the main message of the
song.
3. Pre Chorus
It is the harmony that connects the verse and
chorus
4. It is the main highlight and also called as the
climax of the song. The main thema is expressed
in the chorus. Chorus is usually repeated at least
twice, both lyrically and musically.
5. Bridge
It is a part to connect one part to another. It is
usually shorter than verse and has relatively
different melody from the rest of the song.
Figurative Language
Figurative language is language that uses words or expressions with a
meaning that is different from the literal meaning or interpretation.
1. Metaphor
Metaphor is a comparison made between things which are
essentially not alike.
Example :
This coffee shop is an Ice box !
The sentence means that the coffee shop is so cold that it feels
like an ice box.

2. Simile
Simile is a direct comparison and often uses words like or as.
Example :
she runs as fast as the winds.
The sentence means that she runs extremely fast.
3. Personification
It is when something that is non human is given human-like
qualities.
Example :
the leaves danced in the wind on the cold october afternoon.
The leaves are inhuman and it cannot dance like a human.

4. Hyperbole
It is when you describe something to make it extremely
smaller, bigger, worse, or better than it actually is.
I have told you a million times to clean your room.
It is barely impossible to tell someone in million times.
5. Onomatopoeia
It is a word that imitates or suggest the source of the
sound that it describes. It can be animals sound or
others.
Quack quack
it is onomatopoeia of duck’s sound.
