What Is ANOVA?
• ANOVA stands for Analysis of Variance.
It is a statistical method used to analyze
the differences between the means of two
or more groups or treatments. It is often
used to determine whether there are any
statistically significant differences between
the means of different groups.
When to use ANOVA
• ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) is used
when you have three or more groups
and you want to compare their means
to see if they are significantly different
from each other.
types of ANOVA
1. One-Way ANOVA:
2. Two-Way ANOVA:
1. One-Way ANOVA
• This is used when you have one
independent variable with more than
two levels or groups. It tests whether
there are significant differences in the
means of these groups.
When to use a one-way
ANOVA ?
• This is used when you have one
independent variable with more than two
levels or groups. It tests whether there are
significant differences in the means of
these groups.
EXAMPLE
which samples represent two different populations.
(Bonferroni approach)
Eta squared
Another effect size measure for one-way
ANOVA is called Eta squared. It works in the
same way as R2 for t-tests.
Two-Way ANOVA
In this case, you have two
independent variables, and you
want to assess the main effects of
each variable and whether there is
an interaction effect between
them.
