FLORA & FAUNA
The thick vegetation here mostly comprises teak,
sal and bamboo, and supports diverse wildlife
such as tigers, sloth bears, jackals, leopards,
four-horned antelopes, striped hyenas, chinkara,
barking deer, porcupine, gaur, muntjac, and bison.
CLIMATE
Chhattisgarh has a tropical
climate. It is hot and humid in the
summer because of its proximity to
the Tropic of Cancer and its
dependence on the monsoons for
rains. Summer temperatures in
Chhattisgarh can reach up to 49 °C
(113 °F).

CLOTHES
The women of
Chhattisgarh are famous for
wearing `Lugda` (sari) and `Polkha`
(blouse) along with attractive ornaments
and jewels which was also an integral
part of the culture and heritage. Another
prominent fabric making technique
which is used worldwide today is Batik,
a gift from the heritage of Chhattisgarh.
SOIL
Among the other rivers that drain
Chhattisgarh are the Indravati, Arpa,
and Pairi. Various types of soils are
found throughout the state. Two types
predominate: the black, clayey soils
and the red-to-yellow soils.
TEMPERATURE Chhattisgarh is one
of the warmest region in India with an
average daily high temperature of 33
degrees centigrade. The climate is very
warm with an annual average of 33 degrees,
but has few truly tropical and sultry months.
