Manny Villar
He was born to a simple family on December 13, 1949 in Moriones, Tondo,
Manila. His father, Manuel Montalban Villar, Sr. a government employee, hailed
from Cabatuan, Balazan, and Tanza, Iloilo and his mother Bamba, a seafood
dealer, came from Pampanga and Bataan. Manny is the second child in a
brood of nine. At a very young age, he was already helping his mother sell
shrimp and fish in the Divisoria Market. With the burning desire for a better
future and a strong determination to improve his family’s living conditions,
Manny worked hard in selling shrimps and fish to be able to send himself to
school.
“I learned from my mother what it takes to be an entrepreneur, “ he revealed. “And it
means working really hard to achieve your dreams.” In Divisoria, he marveled at the
volume of sales that Chinese merchants were making, thus he vowed early on to
become an entrepreneur.
Hard work, persistence, and perseverance became his guiding principles in life. This
earned him the title “Mr. Sipag at Tiyaga.”
He continues to inspire Filipinos with his life story and encourages each and
every kababayan to improve their quality of life and fulfill their dreams through the very
values he believes in -- “sipag at tiyaga.”
Manny Pacquiao
Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao ]born on December 17, 1978. A Filipino politician and
former professional boxer Nicknamed "PacMan", he is regarded as one of the greatest
professional boxers of all time. He previously served as a senator of the Philippines from
2016 to 2022.
Manny Pacquiao has an amateur record of 60–4 and a record of 62–8–2 as a
professional, with 39 wins by knockout. Boxing historian Bert sugar ranked Pacquiao as
the greatest southpaw fighter of all time. In 2020, Pacquiao topped the rankers's list of
best boxers of the 21st century.
Pacquiao made history by being the first boxer ever to win world titles in eight weight
divisions, having won twelve major world titles, as well as being the first boxer to win the
lineal championship in five different weight classes. Pacquiao is also the first boxer in
history to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight classes of boxing, also
known as the "glamour divisions" (flyweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight),
and the first boxer ever to become a four-decade world champion, winning world
championships across four decades (1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s).
Pacquiao was long rated as the best active boxer in the world, pound for pound, by most
sporting news and boxing websites, including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Sporting Life,
beginning from his climb to lightweight until his losses in [Link] is also the longest
reigning top-ten active boxer on the Ring's pound for pound list from 2003 to 2016.
LEA SALONGA
Maria Lea Carmen Imotan Salonga, KLD (born February 22, 1971) is
a Filipina singer and actress bestknown for her roles in musical
theatre, for supplying the singing voices of two Disney Princesses,
and as a recording artist and television performer.
At the age of age 18, she originated the lead role of Kim in the musical
Miss Saigon, first in the West End and the non Broad way, winning the
Olivier and Theatre World Awards, and becoming the first Asian woman
to win a Tony Award. She is the first Filipino artist to sign with an
international record label (Atlantic Records in 1993). She is also the first
Philippine-based artist to have received a major album release and
distribution deal in the United States, and one of the best-selling Filipino
artists of all time, having sold over 19 million copies of her albums
worldwide.
Cory Aquino
(born January 25, 1933, Tarlac province, Philippines—
died August 1, 2009, Makati) Philippine political leader
who served as the first female president (1986–92) of
the Philippines, restoring democratic rule in that
country after the long dictatorship of
Ferdinand Marcos.
Corazon Cojuangco was born into a wealthy, politically prominent family based in
Tarlac province, north of Manila. She graduated from Mount St. Vincent College in
New York City in 1954 but abandoned further studies in 1955 to marry Benigno
Simeon Aquino, Jr., who was then a promising young politician. Corazon remained
in the background during her husband’s subsequent career, rearing their five
children at home. Her husband, who had become a prominent opposition politician,
was jailed by Marcos for eight years (1972–80), and Corazon accompanied him into
exile in the United States in 1980. Benigno was assassinated upon his return to the
Philippines in August 1983. This event galvanized opposition to the Marcos
government.
Jose Rizal
He was born on June 19, 1861, approximately 35 years before thatfateful day.
The seventh of the eleven children born to a relatively well-
off family in a Dominican-ownedtenant land in Calamba, Laguna, Jose Rizal
lived and died during the Spanish colonial era in the Philippines.
his early childhood, Jose had mastered the alphabet, learned to writeand read
books like the Spanish version of the Vulgate Bible. At youngage, he already
showed inclinations to arts. He amazed his family by hispencil drawings,
sketches, and moldings of clay. Later in his childhood,he showed special talent in
painting and sculpture, wrote a Tagalog
play which was presented at a Calamba fiesta, and penned a short play inSpanish
which was presented in school. At the age of eleven, Rizal attended the Ateneo
Municipal de Manila andobtained at the age of 16 his Bachelor of Arts degree
with an average of "excellent". In the same year (1877), he took Philosophy and
Letters atthe University of Santo Tomas, while at the same time enrolled in
acourse in land surveying at the Ateneo.
