• Import substitution of precision components for packaging industries.
• Prototype Laparoscopic Surgical tools.
• Design & Development of precision tooling for medical application.
• Reverse engineering components and developments of parts for import substitutions.
INTRODUCTION TO PLC:

• PLC stands for “Programmable Logic Controller”. A PLC is a computer specially designed to operate reliably under
harsh industrial environments – such as extreme temperatures, wet, dry, and/or dusty conditions.
INTRODUCTION CONTD:.

INTRODUCTION TO IOT

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a network of physical devices, vehicles, appliances and other physical objects that are
embedded with sensors, software and network connectivity that allows them to collect and share data.
INTRODUCTION TO IOT CONTD…

“THINGS”
• We can turn almost every object into a “thing”.
• A “thing” still looks much like an embedded system currently.
• A “thing” generally consists of four main parts:
– Sensors & actuators
– Microcontroller
– Communication unit
– Power supply
• A “thing” has the following properties:
– It’s usually powered by battery. This implies limited source of energy.
– It’s generally small in size and low in cost. This limits their computing capability.
– It doesn’t usually perform complicated tasks.
• Power consumption is the main design issue.
INDUSTRY 4.0

6 C’s:
• Connection (Sensors and Networks)
• Cloud (computing and data on demand)
• Cyber (model and memory)
• Content/context (Meaning and Correlation)
• Community (Sharing and Collaboration)
• Custamization (Personalization and Value)
DATONIS EDGE

• Datonis Edge is a distributed computing platform that allows Industrial IoT data to be processed closer to the
edge of the network.
DATONIS EDGE CONTD:.

• Steps of Datonis Edge :

• Platform Registration
• Siemens CPU Configuration
• Datonis Edge Gateway Installation
• Gateway Configuration:
• Data Ingestion
• Cloud Integration
• Security Measure
• Testing
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting

Common questions

Powered by AI

Implementing Industry 4.0 solutions can modernize traditional manufacturing industries by enhancing productivity, enabling real-time data analytics, facilitating customization, and improving supply chain efficiency. However, challenges include the need for significant investment in new technologies, workforce skill development, concerns over data security and privacy, and potential resistance to change within organizations .

The 6 C's of Industry 4.0—Connection, Cloud, Cyber, Content/context, Community, and Customization—enhance industrial practices by facilitating interconnected systems (Connection), enabling scalable data processing (Cloud), ensuring data integrity and synchronization (Cyber), providing meaningful data insights (Content/context), fostering collaborative networks (Community), and delivering personalized user experiences (Customization). Together, these aspects drive efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness in the modern industrial landscape .

Limited power supply fundamentally influences IoT design by necessitating energy-efficient components and minimalistic operation to prolong device lifespan. This restriction limits computationally intensive functionalities, necessitating a focus on essential operations and low-power components. Consequently, designers must balance device performance with power consumption, prioritizing energy-saving features, which can also impact the scale and scope of applications for these IoT devices .

The Siemens PLC communication modules function like network hubs or routers by providing multiple Ethernet ports for multi-point communication within an industrial network. They facilitate effective communication between multiple PLC units and other devices, ensuring smooth data flow and coordination across the network. These modules can also include RS485 and RS232, which extend the communication capabilities, enhancing the integration and connectivity of industrial systems .

GTTC has achieved several significant milestones, including the development of rover wheels for Chandrayaan projects and the creation of hydraulic system line replacement units like shuttle valves and non-return valves for the LCA Tejas aircraft. Additionally, GTTC has pioneered import substitution of precision components for packaging industries, developed prototype laparoscopic surgical tools, designed and manufactured precision tooling for medical applications, and engaged in reverse engineering for importing parts .

GTTC's reverse engineering capabilities play a crucial role in import substitution by enabling the analysis and reproduction of precision components domestically. This reduces reliance on foreign suppliers, lowers costs, and ensures quicker availability of parts. Such capabilities not only enhance GTTC's technical repository but support the self-sufficiency and resilience of local manufacturing ecosystems in producing critical components .

The setup of Datonis Edge involves several steps: Platform Registration, Siemens CPU Configuration, Datonis Edge Gateway Installation, Gateway Configuration, Data Ingestion, Cloud Integration, Security Measure, Testing, Monitoring, and Troubleshooting. Each step contributes to operational effectiveness by ensuring seamless registration, data capture and processing at the edge, integration with cloud services for extended analytics, safeguarding data, and continuous system performance evaluation and adjustment .

Datonis Edge facilitates the transition to edge computing by allowing industrial IoT data to be processed closer to the network edge, reducing latency and bandwidth usage compared to traditional centralized cloud computing. This setup enables rapid data processing and decision-making, enhances real-time operations, and improves system reliability. The platform's ability to manage data integration, security measures, and continuous system optimization underscores its pivotal role in this transition .

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are specifically designed to operate reliably under harsh industrial environments, such as extreme temperatures, and wet, dry, and/or dusty conditions. This capability enhances industrial automation by ensuring the reliable functioning of control systems in adverse conditions, thereby improving process stability and reducing downtime in various industrial scenarios .

A 'thing' in IoT comprises sensors and actuators, a microcontroller, a communication unit, and a power supply. Design considerations for IoT devices are primarily driven by power consumption, size, cost, and computing capability. IoT devices are usually small, cost-effective, and low in computing power since they don't perform complex tasks. The limited energy supply, often from batteries, further restricts their design, necessitating energy-efficient components to prolong operation time .
