Human Reproductive System Overview

This document provides information about the human reproductive system. It begins by presenting the male and female reproductive organs and having students classify them. It then provides illustrations and descriptions of the key parts of the male and female reproductive systems, including their functions. Some of the major parts described are the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina, testes, epididymis, vas deferens, penis, and urethra. The document concludes with enrichment activities to label and identify the reproductive system parts.

PRESENTING A NEW LESSON
Are you familiar with the male and female
reproductive organs?

Take a look at the group of words

on the next slide and see if you are
familiar with them.
Classify whether the following reproductive
organs inside the box belong to male or
female.
Write your answer in the proper column.

ovaries vagina penis

vas deferens cervix

uterus testes
Now look at this...
MALE FEMALE
penis ovaries
testes uterus
vas deferens fallopian tubes
urethra cervix
epididymis vagina
Look and study this illustration. What reproductive
system is this?

FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Now let me get you more familiarize
with the different parts of the
Reproductive System by having the
activity on the next slide.
Using number clue fill in the boxes with the correct letters
to reveal the different organs of the reproductive system.

OVARY
Oval shaped organ either side
of the uterus.
Function
Ovary produces the
female sex cells called eggs
and sex hormones called
estrogen and progesterone.
FALLOPIAN TUBES
A pair of soft tube stretching
from the ovary to the uterus.
FUNCTION

Fallopian Tubes – passageway when

the egg travels from the ovary to
uterus.
-Allow fertilization to
happen.
VAGINA
A hollow muscular tube that leads from
the uterus to the external opening of the
vulva.
Function

Vagina is a passageway for

menstrual flow and baby to the
outside. It expands to let the baby
pass during normal delivery.
CERVIX
Narrow end of the uterus
That opens into the vagina.
Function

Cervix stretches wide

enough for the baby to pass
through during delivery.
UTERUS

A hollow muscular organ

with soft inner lining. It is
located at the lower abdomen.
Function

Uterus nourishes
the fertilized egg.
TESTES/TESTICLES
A pair of oval organs that
lie in the scrotum.
Function

Testes/Testicles produce
male sex cells called sperms
and male hormone called
testosterone.
EPIDIDYMIS

A narrow coiled tube that

rests on the backside of each
testicle.
Function

Epididymis stores sperm

cells.
VAS DEFERENS

Long muscular tube that connects

the tess to the urethra.
Function

Vas deferens serves as passageway

of the sperms released from the
testes.
It transports mature
sperms to the urethra
PENIS

External male genital organ with a

tip called glans.
Function

Penis transmits sperm cells into

the vagina.
URETHRA
A tube that leads from the bladder
and travels through the penis.
Function

Urethra serves as passageway of

both urine from the bladder and
semen from the glands.
