Background of the Organization
 The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) is an
independent organization established in accordance with Article
102 of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of
Ethiopia.
 Since its establishment, the Board has organized different branch
offices at both the federal and regional levels including the two
administrative cities.
Why I choose to join NEBE
 The NEBE is close to my living area.
 The Organization was looking for intern student for the summer.
 The jobs were related to the fields I wanted to join in the future.

Mission and Vision of NEBE
 To Create a Political And Electoral Environment.
 The Legal and Intuitional Frame Work Governing The Electoral
Process.
 The Capacity and Needs of Various Election stakeholders’ As
Well as to Develop Recommendations on the Possibilities of
Electoral Assistance.
 To be a preeminent leader in democracy.
Goals of NEBE
 Active participation.
 Accountability.
 Transparency.
 Responsiveness .

My Role in NEBE
 For the period of my internship I was an intern support on
maintenance and networking,
 The company sets up the entire infrastructure needed for me
to have a work station and special attention.

My Basic Computing Area

 Maintenance of Laptop Computers

Overall Internship Experience

 The first week of my internship at National Election Board

of Ethiopia started on July, it went really well because I have
taken an amazing Orientation about NEBE and exchanged
my contact with those who works in the ICT department.
 In the second week of my internship period my supervisor
took me on a visit of the ICT infrastructures found at NEBE,
such as the Data center, Wi-Fi routers, Servers and other
networking devices that are used in the office.

11/10/2023 6
Cont.
 In the third and fourth week of internship I was given some
excel data to encode it was a HOPR data and send through the
email address of the Database admin at NEBE.
 In the fifth and sixth weeks of Internship these two weeks
were my first time I started by formatting a desktop
computers and installing windows for the formatted
computers that have been used by a long time senior workers.
 In the Seven and Eighth weeks of Internship I have started the
project of laptop maintenance and I was expected to maintain
500 laptop computers for the purpose of data encoding, thus
this two week were the busiest weeks in my internship period

11/10/2023 7
Challenges I have faced and their solution
 Challenge: Allocation of minor works that is I was simply
assigned to work on assisting what my supervisor does and this
makes me dependent on my supervisor.
 Solution: I have decided to ask my supervisor and other ICT
department teams if there is anything I can help with and luckily
they were very glad to give me some other tasks that I can do by
myself.
 Challenge: The desktops that I was formatting were too old and
they take a very long time to format and reinstall windows
because of their low processing speed.
 Solution: Replacing them by a latest generation of electronic
device with higher and better processor.

11/10/2023 8
Problem of Statement
 As we all know in our country there is a scarcity of different
resources and one of the scarce resource is an electronic device,
although this electronic device is very important and play a great
role we can’t afford to have it.
 In the NEBE most of the desktop computers are very old and
have a small RAM and storage so these computers cannot handle
a large number of files.

Objective of the Project

General Objective
 Our main objective of this project was to prepare 500 laptop
computers for the purpose of using these laptops for data
encoding.
11/10/2023 9
Specific Objectives
 Formatting and reinstalling windows 11.
 Installation of Microsoft office.
 Using Clonezilla to clone the laptop computers
 Physically cleaning of the laptops from dust
Methodology
 In order to achieve something there is always a need for a
specific method, here are some of the methods used for the
accomplishment of our project.
 In order to solve the problem we used different data gathering
methods such as:
 Interview: An Interview is defined as a formal and detail-
oriented conversation between interviewer and interviewee

11/10/2023 10
Cont.
 Observation: as the name implies, is a way of collecting data
through observing.
 Document analysis: is a method of data collection which
involves analysis of content from written documents in order to
make certain deductions based on the study parameters.
Hardware’s used for the project
A. External hard disk

 An external hard disk is just a hard disk drive (HDD) or solid-

state drive (SSD) that needs to be connected to the computer
rather than being inside the computer.
 External hard disks are sometimes referred to as portable hard
drives or mobile hard drives.
11/10/2023 11
Cont.
B. USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash drive
 A USB flash drive is a device used for data storage that includes a
flash memory and an integrated Universal Serial Bus (USB)
interface.
 Most USB flash drives are removable and rewritable. Physically,
they are small, durable and reliable.
 The larger their storage space, the faster they tend to operate.

Software used for the project

 Clonezilla is a free and open source disk partition and image
cloning program. You can use Clonezilla for system backups, full
drive clones, system deployments, and more.

11/10/2023 12
Cont.
 Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the hard disk.
This increases the clone efficiency.
 Note that to clone your Windows 10 drive; your second drive
must have an equal or larger capacity to your current storage
 Steps on how to use Clonezilla
Step 1: Download Clonezilla

11/10/2023 13
Cont.
Step 2: Create a Bootable USB Drive with Rufus
 To create your bootable Clonezilla USB flash drive, you need a 1
GB USB flash drive (or larger).
 You also need handy little bootable USB flash drive tool, Rufus.
 Clonezilla is a small ISO. Therefore, the bootable USB flash
drive creation process doesn't take long.
Step 3: Reboot Into Boot Selection Mode
 Now you need to reboot your system into boot selection mode.
 The easiest way to do this is to restart your system, then press
the boot menu selection button for your hardware type.
 Access Boot Selection Menu Using a Function Key.

11/10/2023 14
Cont.
Step 4: Set up Clonezilla
 Once Clonezilla boots, you
have a few options.
Select Clonezilla Live
(Default Settings, VGA
800x600).
Step 5: Clone Your Drive to a Local
Drive
 Clonezilla is a Linux-based utility,
so the drives use the Linux naming
convention. That means your
primary partition---that's your main
storage---will use the name "sda,"
your second drive is "sdb," and so
on.
11/10/2023 15
Cont.
Then choose what you want Clonezilla to do when the cloning
process completes. You have three options:
 Choose: Keep Clonezilla running after the process completes.
 Reboot: Reboot Clonezilla once the process completes.
 Power off: Shut down Clonezilla once the process completes.
The final selection is to copy the local disk's bootloader. If you
are making a copy of your Windows 10 drive and you want it to
boot, type Y, and press Enter.

Recommendations
Recommendation for the hosting company NEBE
 I recommended that the company should improve some its ICT
equipment’s and electronic devices because these devices are too
old and slow.
Recommendation for our university
 I recommend that the university should send students out for
internship at least for five or six months rather than 2 month of
experience so the intern’s student can gain a better understating to
the working environment of their desired field.
 I also recommend that our university should organize a network
between different working areas and creating a network in order
to make the search of a company for the student easy.

11/10/2023 20
Cont.
Recommendation for other interns
 I would like to recommend those students who will go out to
internship that they should be;
 Self-confident,
 Have a good communication with their supervisor and
coworkers,
 Feel free to ask any questions related to their work.
 And most importantly be active and don’t just sit and
wait until a project is given to you rather ask your
supervisor and other coworkers if there is anything you
can help with and
 Always remember to be self-motivated.
