Locomotor and Non-Locomotor Skills

Locomotor and non-locomotor skills are abilities and competencies required to perform physical activities, sports, and exercises. Locomotor skills involve moving the body from one place to another such as walking, running, hopping, jumping, and skipping. Non-locomotor skills involve movement of the body in place such as bending, twisting, stretching, and balancing without advancing. Mastering these fundamental movement skills helps improve physical fitness and prepares the body for more advanced skills.
