Early Life
• Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was born on
November 7, 1888, in Tiruchirapalli, British
India.
Education
• Raman earned his Master's degree in Physics
from Presidency College, Chennai, and later
went on to Cambridge University for further
studies.
Raman Effect
• In 1928, Raman discovered the Raman Effect,
a phenomenon in which light is scattered by
molecules, leading to changes in its
wavelength.
Nobel Prize
• Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics
in 1930 for his work on the scattering of light
and the discovery of the Raman Effect.
