INPUT DEVICES
Accepts data and instructions
from the user or from another
computer system.
INPUT DEVICES
MOUSE
SCANNER KEYBOARD
MICROPHONE WEB
CAMERA
Two Types of Input Devices
1. Keyboard Entry – data is inputted to the
computer through a keyboard.
2. Direct Entry – a form of input that does
not require data to be keyed by someone
sitting at a keyboard.
Three Categories of Direct
Entry Devices
1. Pointing Devices – an input device that
can control the movement of the pointer
(cursor) to select items on a display
screen.
Three Categories of Direct
Entry Devices
2. Scanning Devices – a device that can
capture or read a printed copy of documents
or illustrations and convert it into a
digital format for the computer to
manipulate.

Entry Devices
3. Voice-Input Devices – also known as
speech or voice recognition systems that
allow user to send speech or audio signals
to a computer for processing, recording or
carrying out commands.
OUTPUT DEVICES
Any computer hardware component
that shows results after the
computer processes the input
data entered.
OUTPUT DEVICES

SPEAKER PROJECTOR
MONITOR
It displays information in visual
form, using text and graphics on its
screen or video display terminal.
Three types of monitor
1. Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT)
2. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
3. Light Emitting Diode (LED)
Projectors
Is an optical device that projects an
image (or moving images) onto a surface
or a projection screen.
Smart Board
Also known as interactive whiteboard. It
is a display screen that has a touch
sensitive transparent panel covering the
screen, which is similar to a touch

output data of a computer. It allows user
to listen to music to music or hear the
sound from a computer.
Ports
External connecting sockets on the
outside of the computer.
Cables and Wires
A cable is usually two or more wires
running side by side and bonded, twisted
or braided together to form a single
assembly, but may also refer to a solid,
heavy cord.
Types of Computer Cables
HDMI (High definition Media Interface) is a type of
computer cable used to transmit high definition video and
audio signals. One HDMI cable is capable of transmitting
both audio and video signals at the same time.
VGA (Video Graphics Ray) cable is another type of
computer cable which is used for sending video signals
and is used to link the monitor and the CPU of a
computer.
DVI cables are used to connect the LCD monitor
and the video card. Using this cable, the user can
see high image quality without having any
disturbance.
The Ethernet cable is a type of computer network
cable which is used for a wired network. The Ethernet
cable is used to connect the switches, monitors, PCs to
the LAN (Local Area Network).
The PS/2 cable is a standard cable to connect the mouse and
keyboard to the computer system. The length of the PS/2
cable is long enough so that the user can easily connect the
mouse and keyboard to the system and use the system.
The 3.5mm audio cables are a type of computer
cables that are used in computer audio
applications
The USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable is a standard cable
used to connect universal devices or personal
computers. It is mainly used for short-distance digital
communication.
