Dressmaking is defined as the
art of sewing clothes and
dresses that we can use every
day. Because of them, we can
walk outside confidently and
comfortably with the clothes
they have created
• It has a huge role in our lives and
especially for those who want to
make a career out of it.
• Before you’ll be considered an
expert in dressmaking and
tailoring industry, continuous
training and practice is a must. No
one becomes an expert overnight.
• Always remember to start with the
basics, starting from familiarizing the
tools and equipment, taking body
measurements properly and accurately,
convert common measurements use in
dressmaking, knowing the principles
of designs, learning the steps in using
the sewing machine, and lastly
considering the occupational health
and safety.

compared to buying ready to
wear clothes in malls.
• You have the skills or ability
to alter the fit of any clothing
if ever you gain or lose too
much weight.
• You can make different trends
out of your clothing designs. Let

dressmaking services. Either by
altering someone else’s clothes
or by designing your clothes
then sell it to others.
