Overhead work

▪ Precaution must be taken to ensure safety of the people and property

below prevent falling objects with suitable overhead protection or
fixture .

▪ Exposed areas shall be roped-off and warning signage to be posted .

Prevention of Slip, trip and fall

▪ Every opening which a person may fall shall be barricaded to prevent

falls .

▪ Passageways, platforms and other working surfaces must well maintain

to prevent the tripping, slipping or falling.

▪ Sharp edge, protrusion or projections which may injured a person shall

be removed or otherwise made safe.

 Tools and Equipment Safety
► All tools and equipment should be in good and safe working
condition.
► Power tools shall be properly grounded and fitted with a three
prong plug.
► Contractors must provide their own tools, toolbox and equipment
to access and control of their own.
► Use of Company’s tools, equipment and vehicles including forklift
is not allowed prior permission of the project manager.
► Project Manager or Safety Personnel will conduct spot check.

 Electrical Safety
▪ Portable Electrical Equipment shall be UL, FM or SIRIM or other
certification.

▪ An ELCB must be utilized to prevent shock.

▪ Electrical supply required to be connected or disconnected from a

distribution board must have the approval from the project manager and
the company’s charge man on duty.

▪ Interference or tampering with electrical wiring and other mechanism is

prohibited.

▪ Wiring must be supported on proper insulators and NOT looped over

nails or brackets that can cause rupturing and leading to electrical
leakage.

▪ Workers must be trained and competent to carry out electrical tasks.

 Chemical Safety
▪ Use of hazardous materials with toxic, flammable, combustible, oxidizer,
corrosive, cryogenic or reactive chemical properties in such manner or
quantity that may be health or physical hazard to the worker or the public
are not allowed unless sufficient precautions have been taken.

▪ Contractors brought in chemical must declared with security prior bringing

in any hazardous chemicals through contractors work pass.

▪ All chemical must be properly labeled and have SDS must be available.

▪ Hazardous chemical must not be placed on the floor without secondary

containment.

▪ Suitable Personal Protective Equipment must worn by workers when

handling chemicals.

▪ Special care must be given to prevent spillage of chemical.

▪ Chemical waste/ Oil waste must not be discard into drain or sink.

 Traffic Safety
• Whenever any work is being performed over, on in close proximity to
a roadway or other place where vehicular traffic may cause danger
to men at work, the work area shall be so barricaded and suitable
warning signs shall be set up to direct traffic away from it.

• All vehicles used by the contractors at the place of work must be

roadworthy and registered with the appropriate authority in
accordance with the Road Traffic Ordinance 1958.

• No person shall drive a vehicle of any class or description in the

plant unless he is the holder of a driving license authorizing him to
drive a vehicle of that class or description.

• All vehicles MUST not exceed 15km/hour whilst driving inside the
plant premises.

• Forklift drivers Must not exceed 8km/hour or faster that a brisk

walking speed
