Understanding Body Image and Puberty

Body image is defined as a person's opinions, thoughts, and feelings about their body and physical appearance. It can be positive or negative and is influenced by individual and environmental factors. Puberty causes physical changes in both boys and girls through broader shoulders, growth of facial hair, breast development, and increased height and weight. These changes can impact adolescents' self-image and perception of maturity. During puberty, discovering one's changing appearance can lead to new feelings of attraction between boys and girls.
