The Ribbon in Microsoft


PowerPoint 2010 is made up of the
tabs, tools, and commands that you
may use as you create and edit your
presentation.
 FILE
− Click the File tab and a list of
commands shows up in a drop-down
menu.
− The most common commands you
will use are New, Open, Close, Save,
Save As, Info, Print, and Exit.
 HOME
− Click the Home tab to find tools and
commands in the ribbon that are
grouped according to use: clipboard,
slides, font, paragraph, drawing, and
editing.
 HOME

 Clipboard
− a place in memory that temporarily
holds data.

 Paragraph
− tools to align your paragraph, make a
numbered list, use bullets, indent a
paragraph and others
 Drawing
− tools are meant to aid you in drawing
shapes, arranging objects, picking a
style, choose outline color and others
 Editing
− tools let you find text, replace it with
another text, select all or select
objects and others
 INSERT
− Click the insert tab to open a new
ribbon of tools
− The Insert Tools in the ribbon will let
you insert a table, images, illustrations,
links, text and symbols
− You can also insert video and audio
 DESIGN
− Click the design tab and the ribbon
shows up with tools to define your
page setup and slide orientation, to
choose a theme and others
 TRANSITION
− Refers to the way a slide moves in or
out of a presentation
− You can apply a particular transition
type to your current slide, put timing
and also preview it
 ANIMATION
− it means the way some objects or text
box moves
 SLIDE SHOW
− Click the Slide Show tab to start a
slide show or to set it up
 REVIEW
− it include proofing, language,
comments and comparison
− you check spelling
 VIEW
− The view ribbon provides different
ways to view the presentation
