Selecting Solar Farm Locations in Bangladesh

The document discusses factors to consider when selecting a suitable location for a solar farm in Bangladesh, including high flood levels, distance to rivers or the sea, existing ground levels, maximum rain intensity, and tide effects. It also covers material availability from river deposits, optimizing civil works like embankments and sluices, and a typical embankment detail as per IS12094.

SELECTING A SUITABLE LOCATION IN

BANGLADESH
• FACTORS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BY SELECTING A SUITABLE LOCATION FOR SOLAR FARM
• HIGH FLOOD LEVEL
• DISTANCE TO THE RIVER OR SEA
• EXISTING GROUND LEVELS
• MAXIMUM RAIN INTENSITY
• WHETHER THERE ARE LOW AND HIGH TIDE EFFECT DURING THE DAY
• EXISTING GROUND LEVEL AND HIGH FLOOD LEVEL WILL DECIDE THE HEIGHT OF THE
EMBANKMENT AND FORMATION LEVEL ( DREDGE LEVEL)
• DISTANCE TO THE RIVEL WILL DECIDE THE TYPE OF MATERIAL REQUIRED FOR THE
TURFING
• MAXIMUM RAIN INTENSITY WILL DESIDE THE NUMBER OF SLUICE AND ITS PUMPING
CAPACIT DURING RAIN
MATERIAL AVAILABILITY FOR LAND PREPARATIONS

AS BANGLADESH FACES FLOODING DUE TO THE OVER FLOW OF RIVERS DURING THE MONSOON
IN THE UPSTREAM AREAS. THERE ARE PLANTY OF ALUVIAL SOIL DEPOSITES WITHIN THE RIVER
BEDS ACCUMULATED OVER THE YEARS. MOST OF THE CASES THOSE ACCUMIULATED ALUVIAL
DEPOSITE COULD BE USED FOR FILLING THE LAND BY DREDGING.
OPTIMIZATION TECHNICS INTERMS OF CIVIL
WORKS

IDENTIFY THE LOCATIONS WHERE SPECIAL ATTENSION SHOULD BE TAKEN WHILE PROPOSING
EMBANKMENTS
MINIMIZE THE DREGING VOLUME BY CONSIDERING THE SLOPE OF THE EMBANKMENT OF THE
LAND SIDE
PLACING THE SLUICE AT PROPER LOCATIONS
OPTIMIZE THE USE OF CUT FILLING WITH IN THE SITE
CHECK THE ACCESIBILITY DURING MONSOON ( WHETHER ACCESS ROADS NEED TO BE UPGRADED)
USE OF FONDATION TYPES FOR PANEL SUPPORTS AND OTHER STRUCTURES
TYPICAL EMBANKMENT DETAIL AS PER IS12094
