7 Steps Technique in Problem Solving
1) Definition – Defining the problem, what is the real
problem, if for call center example, maybe the problem
is number of calls or long call durations, .. .
2) Data Collection – Collection of data and numbers
representing the problem, for example a list, graph, ..
3) Cause Analysis – Finding out what caused the
problem
4) Solution Planning & Implementation
5) Evaluation of effects
6) Standardization
7) Evaluation of Process
Problem Solving – Another Approach
1) What is the Problem ? – define the problem, collect data, history
of the problem, how serious is it , symptoms, causes and effects of
the problem
2) What are the alternatives ? – Find out different alternatives and
solutions, think out side the box, consider view of others
3) Advantages & Disadvantages – list advantages and
disadvantages of each
4)What is the solution ? – Evaluate and compare different
solutions, combine solutions for better result, try out each possible
solution in your imagination, think about possible effects due to
selecting this solution.
5) How well is the solution working ? Evaluate, get feedback, any
adjustments needed
