FOREWORD
Life Insurance is not just a “Piece of Paper”; it is “Peace of
Mind”. We are into the business of selling promises and
commitments to be fulfilled on a future date, may be by a
different set of people altogether. In return for a promise that
the Insurance Company will come forward…”Zindagi Ke
Saath Bhi…Zindagi Ke Baad Bhi”, the Insured is entrusting
his precious little saving in the hands of the Insurer. This puts
enormous responsibility on people in the Insurance Industry to
ensure delivery of promises, in letter and spirit. This is possible
only when each one of us understands what Life Insurance is,
how it works and how it can contribute to the needs of the
Industry, Society and the Nation’s economy.
The Marketing people and their professional abilities
represent the Organisation’s competitive advantage in the
Market. There is always a price for education but does any
one know the cost of ignorance? To stay ahead in the highly
competitive and fast changing environment an individual has
to keep updating his knowledge continuously. In this context it
is a laudable effort to standardize training of Prospective
Agents all over the country. I am sure that this is just a
beginning and improvements will constantly be attempted.
Every Prospective Agent and the person associated with this
will find the Module of immense value.
Best Wishes,

PREFACE
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority has
laid down that all those who wish to become Insurance Agent
shall have completed from an approved institution, at least, one
hundred hours’ practical training and shall pass the
examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India,
Mumbai or any other examination body. The IRDA has
designed the syllabus for the same and on its basis the
Insurance Institute of India has published a book- IC-33
Revised (Life Insurance). There are 17 chapters in the book
which deals in the matter that are basic and should be known
to everybody in the Insurance Industry.
Though the contents of the book is simple and is being
taught by the faculties at various ATCs/DTCs, it has been
decided to standardize the module and develop power point
presentations on each chapter so that the learning is more
focused and the candidates are able to perform better. This
training is only the beginning and it will be our endeavor to see
our agents reaching greater heights. The role of Insurance
agents is highly rewarding and they earn the gratitude of their
customers. Learning is a never ending process and agents
should continue to acquire more knowledge, skills and
increase their competencies. It would give us immense
pleasure if suggestions are forwarded for improvement in the
Module.
With best wishes,
