Gas Separator and Intake Systems Overview

The document discusses different types of pump intakes and gas separators. It describes standard and integral intakes, as well as bolt-on intakes that can have standard or abrasion-resistant bearing systems. The document also details static/reverse flow and rotary/dynamic gas separators, including the 538 series vortex gas separator which uses natural vortex action and an axial flow inducer to separate gas from liquids.

INTAKE

SECTION
INTAKE SECTION
Intake section can either be:

• Standard Intake, or
• Gas Separator
STANDARD INTAKE
Intakes can be either :
Integral or bolt-on.

Integral intake to pump is usually offered

to bigger pumps from 562 series and above.
Bolt-on Intake

Bolt-on intake can have various type of

bearing system:

 Standard – Ni-resist bushing

 ARZ – Abrasion resistant Bearing
and
Abrasion resistant material can be: Sleeve

 Zirconia (ARZ)
 Silicon Carbide (ARZ-ZS or ARZ-SS)

As well fluid enters the
gas separator it is
forced to change
direction. Some of the
gas bubbles continue
to rise instead of turn
or rise inside of the gas
separator, exit the
housing and continue
to rise.
