RENEWABLE ENERGY

SOURCES

Our power, our future

Renewable energy resource
An energy resource that is replaced rapidly by natural
processes.
Some examples of renewable energy resources are
sunlight, hydropower (water falling through a dam), and
wood.
When you use some sunlight to warm your back, more
is made almost immediately available. Water above the
dam is continually replaced by rainfall.
If you chop down a tree and burn its wood in your
campfire, it takes awhile for the forest to grow enough to
replace that wood, but it will happen within your lifetime.

SOURCES

Our power, our future

Solar energy
Solar power is energy that is created by the sun and
is the power from it, used in order to produce energy
for many things here on earth.
This type of energy is also clean, renewable and
doesn’t cost anything.
Solar energy is growing in popularity because it’s the
most abundant and the most cost effective energy
source we have.
The amount of energy the sun gives to the earth in
one day, can power the whole planet and its energy
needs for an entire year.

atmosphere.
Biomass energy
Biomass, a renewable energy source, is
biological material from living, or recently living
organisms, such as wood, waste, (hydrogen) gas,
and alcohol fuels.
Biomass is commonly plant matter grown to
generate electricity or produce heat.
It also includes plant or animal matter used for
production of fibers or chemicals.
Biomass may also include biodegradable wastes that
can be burnt as fuel.
Tidal Energy
Tidal power, also called tidal energy, is a form of
hydropower that converts the energy of tides into
electricity or other useful forms of power.

Tidal power is the only form of energy which derives

directly from the relative motions of the Earth–Moon
system.

Tidal forces produced by the Moon and Sun, in

combination with Earth's rotation, are responsible for
the generation of the tides
Geothermal energy
Geothermal energy is thermal energy
generated and stored in the Earth.
Thermal energy is energy that determines
the temperature of matter.
Earth's geothermal energy originates from
the original formation of the planet, from
radioactive decay of minerals, from volcanic
activity, and from solar energy absorbed at
the surface.

Oil content varies from 28% to 30% and
80% extraction, one hectare of plantation
will give 400 to 600 litres of oil if the soil
is average.
The oily seeds are processed into oil,
which may be used directly ("Straight
Vegetable Oil") to fuel combustion engines
or we can produce biodiesel.
Green algae
Like all green plants, green algae produce food through the
process of photosynthesis, which involves the conversion of
sunlight into electrical energy.
Harnessing the electricity from photosynthesis was the big
challenge that the scientists faced.
In order to harness the electricity, the scientists stuck the algal
cells with very thin gold needles--on the order of nanometer
thickness (one-millionth of a millimeter).
The cell membranes of the algae simply closed around the gold
needles.
The algae produced electricity via photosynthesis, and the
gold needles relayed the electricity to an external device that
recorded the electricity.
Threats

One day world will become so dark in

the field of energy.

There will be huge demand in electricity.

Changes cannot be done in one or two

days.
Steps to be taken

Aware people about renewable

resources.
All should participate in utilizing
renewable energy sources.
Also the government should
encourage this activity in all
aspects.
