Action against cyber crime
CYBER SECURITY
PRESENTED BY: AKARSH SAXENA (ROLL NO.-1747110004)
•The technique of protecting internet-connected systems such as computers,
servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious
attacks is known as cyber security.
•Cyber security is the application of technologies, processes and controls to
protect systems, networks, programs, devices and data from cyber attacks.
•Cyber security refers to the protection of data and information from
unauthorized access on the internet.
•It aims to reduce the risk of cyber attacks and protect against the unauthorised
exploitation of systems, networks and technologies.
Some other definitions
"Cyber Security is the body of technologies, processes, and
practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and
data from attack, theft, damage, modification or unauthorized
access.“
"Cyber Security is the set of principles and practices designed to
protect our computing resources and online information
against threats."
The history of cyber security
•The first cyber crime was recorded in year 1820.
•The first spam email took place in 1978 when it was sent out over the ARPANT.
•The first virus was installed on an apple computer in year 1982.
•A 1977 NIST publication introduced the "CIA triad" of Confidentiality, Integrity, and
Availability as a clear and simple way to describe key security goals.
•the 1970s and 1980s didn't have any grave computer threats because computers and
the internet were still developing, and security threats were easily identifiable.
The cyber security
Principles
The purpose of the cyber security principles is to provide strategic
guidance on how organisations can protect their systems and data from
cyber threats. These cyber security principles are grouped into four key
activities: govern, protect, detect and respond.
Govern: Identifying and managing security risks.
Protect: Implementing security controls to reduce security risks.
Detect: Detecting and understanding cyber security events.
Respond: Responding to and recovering from cyber security incidents.
Cyber Security Goals
cyber security main objective is to ensure data protection. The security community
provides a triangle of three related principles to protect the data from cyber-attacks.
This principle is called the CIA triad. Confidentiality: Confidentiality is equivalent to
privacy that avoids unauthorized access of information.
Integrity : This principle ensures that the data is authentic, accurate, and safeguarded
from unauthorized modification by threat actors or accidental user modification.
Availability : This principle makes the information to be available and useful for its
authorized people always.
Cyber Security Tools
Protecting our IT environment is very critical. Every organization needs to take cyber
security very seriously. There are numbers of hacking attacks which affecting
businesses of all sizes. Hackers, malware, viruses are some of the real security threats
in the virtual world.
Types of Cyber Security Threats
Types of Cyber Attacks
A cyber-attack is an exploitation of computer systems and networks. It uses malicious code to
alter computer code, logic or data and lead to cybercrimes, such as information and identity theft.
We are living in a digital era. Now a day, most of the people use computer and internet. Due to
the dependency on digital things, the illegal computer activity is growing and changing like any
type of crime.
Conclusion
I hope that my presentation will be helpful for my audience to improve
their knowledge about cyber security and to overcome several security
loopholes on their computer operation. Also it helps to spread awareness
among normal people about emerging security threats. Simple and
practical prevention methods are explained in the Seminar to prevent
PCs from infection.
