PHOTOSHOP 101:

CAMOUFLAGE
EFFECT
How do you
camouflage a face into
a tree?
Step 1: Open selected photos in Photoshop

• Double click picture 1 to unlock

PICTURE 1 BACKGROUND PICTURE

Step 2: Desaturate picture 1
• Click Ctrl+Shift+U to turn picture 1 to black.
Step 3. Move picture 1 to the Background Picture
(Tree)
• Use Move Tool to move picture 1 to background picture.
• Click Ctrl+T to resize layer 1 according to desire.
Step 4. Click on Brush Tool
■ Adjust brush size to 25 and 0%
hardness
■ Make sure the foreground is black
and the background is white.

Click on Quick mask button


■ Draw around the face.
■ Press Q to select face.
■ Press Crtl+shift+I Quick mask button
(Invert)
Step 5. Duplicate
■ Duplicate Layer 1.
■ Hide Layer 1 & 2.
■ Duplicate Background.

■ Go to Menu Bar -
Click on Filter - Blur
- Gaussian Blur -
Adjust to 2.0 px
Step 6. Duplicate Background Copy.
■ Go to Layer – Duplicate Layer – Choose New and
type in DISPLACEMENT as the file name.
Step 7.
■ Close the Displacement tab and choose to
save.
Step 8.
■ Now that we don’t need Background
Copy, we can now delete it.
Step 9.
■ Make Layer 2 visible & go to Filter –
Distort – Displace
Step 10.
■ Click on the Displacement file and
open it.
Step 11.
■ Make a copy of the displaced photo (Layer 2)
and make the blend mode multiply;
Step 12.
■ Double click on the layer to
open its layer styles and
choose color overlay
■ After clicking on color
overlay, click on the color
box and type 736d69
■ After it, change the blend
mode to color dodge and
Press OK.
Step 14.
■ Click on layer 2, then change the blend mode to
overlay and change the opacity to 20.
Step 15. Touch ups

■ For the finishing steps, go


to the adjustment button
and choose curves
■ Click Alt+Ctrl+g to clip
the curves to layer 2 and
in the curves window,
adjust the brightness of
your picture as of desire.
Step 18.
■ You’re finished! Save it.
