Assignment Aircraft Maintenance Management
You are the CAMO team in charge of the continuing airworthiness of an Airbus 350-
900 fitted with the Flight Crew Rest Compartment (FCRC) for long distance flight,
with only SB 27-P004 applied (Mod 107894 embodied). The aircraft is registered in
Spain and has six month life. Your aircraft will reach 2000 FH and 500 Cycles
tomorrow and you have to prepare the scheduled maintenance check to be
performed. Therefore you have to analyze the A 350 Maintenance Program to
determine :
1) What are the maintenance tasks that have to be performed tomorrow?
2) What are their sources?
3) How many manhours are necessary?

Introduction Aircraft Maintenance Management
Preliminary remark: In our research into « Airbus A350 Maintenace Planning
Document» (REVISION 04, Jan 15/18 ISSUE 0, Jan 15/18 ) we have considered first of
all the tasks which have to be done after 2000 flight hours, 500 cycles or 6 months, but
then also their submultiples (i.e. 1000 flight hours, 1 flight cycle…).
We have found 27 tasks and grouped them according to:
1) Flight hours
2) Flight Cycles
3) Months
4) Days and hours

Notes about Sources Aircraft Maintenance Management
The Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) is an AIRBUS envelope repository document containing repetitive maintenance tasks
published in the Maintenance Review Board Report (MRBR), the Airworthiness Limitation Section (ALS) Parts 2, 3, 4 and 5 and the
ETOPS CMP documents and provides additional information about maintenance tasks, their scheduling and procedures.
• One Star CMRs specified in the ALS Part 3 are mandatory tasks and cannot be changed or deleted without the concurrence of the
Primary Certification Authority (EASA). One Star CMR task intervals quoted in ALS Part 3 are absolute limitations and cannot be
escalated without the concurrence of the Primary Certification Authority (EASA). ALS Part 3 is one of the main source documents,
Certification Maintenance Requirements (CMR) Revision 04.
• MRB Report (MRBR) tasks arise from a theoretical analysis of the aircraft prior to entry into service. Tasks from the Systems and
Powerplant Section are categorized according to whether they are associated with hidden or evident conditions and according to their
contribution to the avoidance of safety and non-safety related failure effects. These categories (Failure Effect Categories – FECs) give
an idea of 'importance' or 'criticality' (FEC 5, 8, 9, 6 and 7 in decreasing order of importance) and allow a different compliance time
policy to be established for different categories:
FEC 5: Evident Safety Effects
FEC 6: Evident Operational Effects
FEC 7: Evident Economic Effects
FEC 8: Hidden Safety Effects
FEC 9: Hidden Non-Safety Effects

Notes about Sources Aircraft Maintenance Management
• ALS Part 4: System Equipment Maintenance Requirements (SEMR), Section 4, Revision 03. The limitations published in
this document have been identified in consideration of a maximum number of Flight Hours (FH)/Flight Cycles (FC) that
may be accrued by an individual aircraft, as follows: 120000 FH / 28800 FC.
• ETOPS Configuration, Maintenance and Procedures (CMP) document Revision 03. Intervals quoted as ‘not to exceed’,
unless specified otherwise in the CMP document.
