Colline opened her coin bank this summer.
She sorted the coins by their value. She
has 15 pieces of one-peso coins, 20 pieces
of five-peso coins and 9 pieces of ten-peso
coins. If she buys a hairclip worth 20, how
much of Colline’s money will be left?
[ (15 x 1 ) + (20 x 5) + (9 x 10) ] – 20 = N
[ 15 + 100 + 90 ] - 20 = N
205 - 20 = N
185 = N
She will have 185 left after buying
the hairclip.
