Using Tracert

• Tracert is a utility that traces the route to a host you


specify.
• Can be used within LAN to list the computer or routers
from your computer to another computer.
• Each step or a leg of the journey is called hop which
request to a computers or router your request must
pass through to reach its destination.
• To use tracert, enter:

Tracert hostname
Using PathPing
• Is a combination of ping and tracert tool.
• Gives you an easy interface to see each hop
and the response time for each.
• To use pathping, enter:

Pathping hostname
Using IPCONFIG
• Gives you a complete TCP/IP information for adapters
configured on your computer.
• Identifies the MAC, IP address, Subnet Masks, Default
Gateway, DNS Server, Dynamic Hosts Configuration
protocol(DHCP).
• To use ipconfig, type:

Ipconfig

• Common switches include all, flusdns,release,renew


Using Netstat
• Displays all active connections to your
computer.
• Enter netstat in the command prompt.
