Power Factor: It is a measure of how effectively we are using electricity.
Real power: Used in electrical appliances to perform the work of heating, lighting etc.
The unit is KW.
Inductive load like a motor, compressor requires reactive power to generate and
sustain a magnetic field in order to operate.
Apparent power is the vector summation of the two powers.
Power factor 80% means:
- 80% of the current does the useful work
- 20 % wasted through heating up conductors.
