 The development of skills and knowledge to empower young people to


contribute to the process of disarmament, particularly nuclear weapons but
also small arms.
The relevance of disarmament education
within the field of peace education
 Disarmament and non-proliferation education focus on reducing, controlling,
and eliminating weapons of all kinds to undermine militarism and prevent
armed conflict and armed violence.
Disarmament education can be
implemented in the classroom
 By activities working with youth as a means to motivate each other to take
action and responsibility.
What would a world without armaments look like?
Would human security be possible in a disarmed world?

Without weapons presumably the most effective way to fight would be with your
body - so effective physical fighting such as martial arts would be much more
important, and physical barriers such as walls/fences and ditches important for
regional security.

What are the opportunity costs of military spending? If
your country wasn't spending money on the military,
what could it be using that money for?
Increased military spending leads to slower economic growth. Military spending
tends to have a negative impact on economic growth.
It could be use for Medicare for All, Free College, Food Assistance, Planned
Parenthood, Reduced Fossil-Fuel Emissions, Upgraded Infrastructure
What are the connections between:
disarmament and human rights? disarmament and the
environment? disarmament and social justice?
The human right of all persons to peace and disarmament is inextricably linked to
all other human rights -- rights that are universal, indivisible, interconnected and
interdependent.
Environment will be clean and inhabitable for both humans and animals.
