Effective Mosquito Control Strategies

This document discusses vector control measures for various disease-carrying vectors. It outlines mosquito control methods including anti-larval (environmental, chemical, biological) and anti-adult (residual sprays, space sprays, genetic control) measures. Fly control methods include environmental control, insecticidal control using sprays and baits, fly paper, health education and protection against flies. Control of sand flies, tsetse flies, fleas, mites, cyclops, and rodents are also outlined. The overall goal is for community health nurses to effectively manage vectors through appropriate sanitation and targeted control methods to improve public health.

VECTOR CONTROL

Introduction
Vectors cause many diseases. They directly or indirectly spread
diseases. Increase in disease causing vectors are mainly due to
lack of proper sanitation. Proper knowledge regarding vector
management will help the community health nurse to act
according to the need of the area with economy of resources
thus ends up in effective vector management and improved
health of the society
