Adjective:

Definitions:
[Link] is a word, which modifies a noun or
pronoun .
[Link] is a word or group of words which is
used to modify the quality, quantity, color, size,
shape, age, temperature, origin, of noun or
pronoun.
[Link] describe nouns or pronouns.
Examples #1:

We need someone experienced.

Quality: Good, intelligent, beautiful, honest.
Quantity: Much, many, few, a few, little.
Color: Black, red, green etc.
Size: Small, big, large, huge etc.
Shape: Round, square, circle etc.
Age: Old, young, teenager etc.
Temperature: Hot, cool, cold, warm.
Origin: American, Afghan.
Types of Adjectives:
In English grammar adjectives have the
following types.
1. Proper adjectives
2. Descriptive adjectives
3. Possessive adjectives.
4. Demonstrative adjectives.
5. Interrogative adjectives.
6. Distributive adjectives.
7. Adjectives of quantity.
8. Focusing adjectives/ adjective of emphasis.
9. Exclamatory adjectives.
10. Adjective of number/ numerical adjectives.
1. Proper Adjectives:
Are those adjectives which are taken from
proper nouns in order to modify or give extra
information about noun or pronoun.

Afghanistan Afghan
America American
India Indian
Japan Japanese
Canada Canadian
Note: The first letter of proper adjective
should be capitalized.
2. Descriptive Adjectives:
Are those adjectives which are used to show
either positive or negative quality of noun or
pronoun.
Some descriptive adjectives are listed below.
Intelligent, lazy, beautiful, fast, slow, nice,
pretty, good, bad etc.
E .g. He met with an intelligent teacher.

3. Possessive Adjectives:
Are those adjectives which are followed by noun
or pronoun to show possession or ownership.
Possessive adjectives are seven (7) in numbers:
My E.g. I respect my parents.
Our E.g. We saw our parents.
Your E.g. This is your book.
Their E.g. I like their children.
His E.g. That is his book.
Her E.g. She goes to her class.
Its E.g. Afghanistan is a nice country and I
like Its weather.
Difference between possessive adjectives and
possessive pronouns.
We use after possessive adjective noun or
pronoun, but after possessive pronoun we can’t
use.

Are those adjectives which are used to point out
person, place and thing.
Demonstrative adjectives are five in numbers:
This E.g. This book is interesting.
That E.g. That boy is intelligent.
These E.g. These books are interesting.
Those E.g. Those books are interesting.
Such E.g. Such car I want to buy.
Difference between demonstrative adjective and
demonstrative pronoun.
 Demonstrative adjective should be attached

to noun.
 Demonstrative pronoun should be attached to

verb.
